Manufacturing

During my exchange year at The University of Texas at Austin, I took a course called "Machine Tool Operations for Engineers". In this course I learnt various practical skills related to metal manufacturing through two main projects: using manual manufacturing processes to manufacture a vice, and creating G-Code for a CNC mill to manufacture a custom chess piece.

For my CNC project I chose to design and manufacture a brass octagonal chess piece with facets at various angles. Using Solidworks and Mastercam for the design and creation of the G-Code, the part was manufactured on a 3-axis CNC machine with a 4th axis rotary table. Upon completion of the project, I recieved praise from the technicians and lecturer for manufacturing the most unique, complex, and detailed final CNC project of the year.
